Renee Robinson

Renee Robinson is the Film Commissioner of Jamaica, and a multi-lingual orange economy expert, content strategist, and thought-leader. She has worked in Canada, Europe, USA, Africa, and the Caribbean – in film, television, digital content, and the arts and culture – and is a highly sought speaker on the international film festival circuit.

For more than 15 years, she has led on programming, content strategy, media policy, investment-readiness, and industry intelligence at prestigious institutions such as the Toronto International Film Festival, Women in Film & Television – Toronto, the Harbourfront Centre, the Cultural Development Commission in Jamaica, and since 2016 at the Jamaica Film Commission. She is trained in corporate governance, diversity and inclusion, investment promotion, and international trade; and serves on several boards and committees.

Renee has an MA / MBA in Communications and Cultural Policy with a specialization in Telecom Regulation and Arts Management from York University; and a BA (Hons) in Art Studio and Art History from Williams College. A ‘dip-brat’ and a multi-lingual third culture kid, Renee has travelled to over 40 countries, and in her ‘spare’ time is a certified advanced diver, a trained yogi, an amateur sommelier, a medicinal herbalist, and an adrenaline junkie. Renee used to be ENTJ, is now INFJ – and is also that person who says: “I know who you need to meet. I’ll introduce you….”
